An exciting starting field in prospect for the 2022 edition

- Changes to the Belcar Championship regulations make it possible to pursue a victory and national title with Porsche in overall championship

- Various teams with Porsche are presenting themselves for New Race Festival on May 14th and 15th

Zonhoven, April 24. After the renewed agreement at the beginning of this year, between the promoters of the Belcar Endurance Championship and the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux, the new collaboration already seems to be paying off, and this of course in light of the thoroughly adapted regulations of the national endurance championship. Indeed, with the disappearance of the CN prototypes and related cars, the GT cars are once again the top class in the national championship, making the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 one of the weapons for the overall victory and the national title fight. But the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 991 and the Porsche Cayman GT4 also still find their way to the Porsche Endurance Trophy. An initial state of affairs shows that the choices made in recent months were the right ones.

The teams have meanwhile started announcing their plans for the 2022 season and it is striking that Porsche still scores high when it comes to motorsport in Belgium. The reigning champions in both the Belcar Endurance Championship and the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux, Belgium Racing compete with no less than three Porsche 911 GT3 Cups, two of which are Type 992 and one 991. for a fourth consecutive title with the duos Kris Wauters and Koen Wauters on the one hand and Michael Cool and Dylan Derdaele on the other, but we will also guide Michiel Haverans through his first steps in a GT car”, Marc Goossens, team manager of the Lommel team story.

However, they are not alone, because many other teams that also compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux opt for a combination of sprint and endurance competitions. After all, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is at home in all markets.

Speedlover, André Van Hoof's team, will enter two and possibly three cars, including a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 for Rik Renmans and Wim Meulders. The formation also deploys one or two type 991. “We combine the Porsche Endurance Trophy, with the Carrera Cup Benelux and even a few rally competitions, but always with Speedlover”, surprised Wim Meulders, who has been a fixture in the Porsche competitions for years.

Q1 Trackracing opts for a '992', with revelation Jan Lauryssen and Filip Teunkens, in addition to possibly a Cayman GT4, but the names have not yet been announced.

Another team with strong ambitions is NGT Racing in a partnership with Russell Racing. The multiple winners of the 24 Hours of Zolder Hans and Frank Thiers do it together with Christoff Corten and Jeffrey Van Hooydonk in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992, and they certainly form a solid quartet that can harbor ambitions.

Sparx Group and Tip Top Rent are again looking at the Porsche Cayman GT4 class, while other teams have a selection of races, including the 24 Hours of Zolder, on the agenda, but there will certainly be a lot of news about that later. .

Again with Michelin

The Porsche Endurance Trophy also continues the long-term collaboration with tire partner Michelin, a collaboration that has been very successful in recent years. In order to support the teams as best as possible, a parts service and technical support will also be available at all Porsche Endurance Trophy races, both at home and abroad.

The Porsche Endurance Trophy starts on 14 and 15 May, of course at Circuit Zolder.
