- Long-distance championship for various models of Porsche racing cars will run on three different circuits and in five rounds in 2023
- Over 35 hours of racing fun to determine champion 2023
Zonhoven, December 19, 2022. After the Awards of the various Porsche Benelux championships, the 2022 season has been placed in the history books. Meanwhile, the promoter of the various series is working on the 2023 season and after the calendar of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux, the calendar of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux is now also known. With five rounds, good for more than 35 hours of racing fun on three different circuits, the 2023 season looks great and of course the annual highlight is again the 24 Hours of Zolder, this time on August 26 and 27. Appointment in 2023!
Christoff Corten, Hans and Frank Thiers and Jeffrey Van Hooydonk managed to secure their title in the last meters of the 2022 season at the wheel of their Russell Racing by NGT Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 -. The finish of last season was at Circuit Zolder and it is also there that the 2023 season will start. On May 13 and 14, the New Race Festival will be the scene for a 180-minute season opener, the first date of the new racing season.
“The main changes for the 2023 season are of course the fact that we have five meetings on the calendar, instead of six, but that the races are slightly longer, from 125 minutes to 180 minutes, with the exception of the final test at Circuit Zolder” , explains Series Manager Rudi Penders. “The total driving time will therefore be slightly longer, with the focus on the weekend of August 26 and 27, with the traditional 24 Hours of Zolder. The 2022 edition has proven that this race is still a highlight on the national motorsport calendar. But the other meetings are also more than worthwhile, with the New Race Festival in mid-May opening the season, followed by an evening race at the Spa Euro race meeting in June, which is a nice nod to the past. The Belcar Endurance Championship, with which we still cooperate, held all such races on Saturday evenings at the end of the last century. Then there is the 24 Hours of Zolder and we end the season with two races in the context of meetings of the European NASCAR, which are always public attractions. We race successively in Oschersleben and on Circuit Zolder. I think this calendar will appeal to teams and drivers who are mainly active on the national racing scene.”
The cars eligible to participate in the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux are the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Type 991 and 992 and the various versions of the Porsche Cayman GT4.
So see you on May 13 and 14 at Circuit Zolder for the opener of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux 2023!
