This weekend of May 18 and 19, the Circuit of Zolder will be the scene of the first round of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux, which will be contested, as tradition dictates, as part of the Belcar Endurance Championship . The first round will consist of a 125-minute race, a classic distance of the Belgian endurance championship. Many newcomers have once again bet on Porsche, just to benefit from the performance and reliability of the German brand's cars.
Porsche is synonymous with motorsport. Last weekend, the German brand distinguished itself all over the world, with victories in the FIA WEC, the IMSA championship and Formula E. And this next weekend, Porsche will be among the favorites of the Belcar Endurance Championship. Some five Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 – will fight for victory in the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux, but also for the top step of the podium in the Belcar Endurance Championship.
Ascending curve throughout the season
“We are present at the start of the competition with five examples of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 -, but during the next races, this number will evolve, reaching its climax during the 24 Hours of Zolder at the end of August , comments Rudi Penders, Series Manager of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux. In August, we will indeed be able to count on twice as many cars. For the start of the championship, we are happy to see the return of many famliar faces at the team level, like Speedlover (Renmans-Meulders), Q1 Trackracing (Teunkens-Vandierendonck) and Belgium Racing (Derdaele-Lauryssen), while with MM Racing (Meurrens-Meurrens) and Roos Motorsport (Geyssens-Yondem), new names are appearing on the starting grid. This once again underlines the extent to which Porsche, and in particular the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 –, constitutes an ideal car for these long races. In the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux, everyone has the same equipment, which means that speed and strategy decide the outcome of the races. As for the Belcar Endurance Championship, the Porsche 911 serves as a benchmark for the BoP. The Porsche teams therefore in principle have good assets. In addition, in terms of drivers, we see a nice mix of young talents, experienced drivers and real gentleman drivers.”
Cayman GT4 RS
Porsche is not only aiming for victory in the GTA class of the Belcar Endurance Championship. In GTB, the German manufacturer has a particularly interesting option in the new Cayman GT4 RS. The season will begin on Saturday with free practice between 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., while the order of the starting grid will be determined during qualifying scheduled between 1:45 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The race itself will begin on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and end at 4:05 p.m.
