Zonhoven, August 19, 2025. The 47th running of the 24 Hours of Zolder promises one of the strongest grids in recent years. Porsche is expected to be a major force in this year’s race, with the Stuttgart manufacturer aiming for a record-extending 21st overall triumph in what is regarded as one of the toughest endurance contests worldwide. The event stands as the crown jewel of both the national endurance championship and the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux, where two teams remain locked in a fierce battle for the title after three rounds.

Following three races, one at Zolder and two at Spa-Francorchamps, the #99 Belgium Racing Team Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 – driven by Jan Lauryssen and Dylan Derdaele leads the championship on 68 points, holding a slim three-point advantage over Glenn Van Parijs and Cédric Wauters in the #15 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 – run by D’Ieteren Luxury Performance by NGT. The Meurrens brothers – Tom, Mick, and Steve – are currently third in the standings, though 31 points adrift of the leaders. With double points awarded at the 24 Hours of Zolder, the title race remains wide open.

Belgium Racing Team: title leaders reinforced

Belgium Racing Team brings both of its regular entries, the #98 and #99 Porsches, to Zolder. Current championship leaders Jan Lauryssen and Dylan Derdaele will share their #99 with seasoned campaigner Xavier Maassen, a former winner and pole-sitter of the race, alongside 2023 winner Nico Verdonck. In the #98 car, regular drivers Michael Cool and Brent Verheyen will be joined by Olivier Bertels, reigning Belcar Endurance Touring Car Champion, and Dutchman Oscar Gräper, well known from the Dutch Supercar Challenge and DNRT.

D’Ieteren Luxury Performance by NGT: two world champions added to the line-up

D’Ieteren Luxury Performance by NGT is also leaving nothing to chance. Their established trio in the #15 Porsche 911 – Glenn Van Parijs, Cédric Wauters, and Robin Knuttson – will be strengthened by two world-class names: Bertrand Baguette and Laurens Vanthoor. Baguette returns as defending Zolder winner alongside Van Parijs and Knuttson, while Vanthoor, who claimed his first-ever 24-hour race win here in 2012, now arrives as reigning FIA WEC World Endurance Champion with Porsche Penske Motorsport.

Vanthoor and Baguette hardly need introduction. Vanthoor, a Limburg local who grew up at Circuit Zolder, has enjoyed an illustrious career with major international GT and endurance titles. Baguette, meanwhile, adds a wealth of global experience, including championships in Super GT, FIA WEC LMP2, and Formula Renault 3.5.

NGT expands with VR Racing and JDK

NGT Racing also strengthens its ranks by teaming up with VR Racing, led by Dirk and Tom Van Rompuy. Their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 – will feature a formidable driver squad: Kévin Estre, Jonny Edgar, and Lars Kern. Estre, teammate to Laurens Vanthoor in FIA WEC, is himself a reigning world champion. Edgar, formerly part of the Red Bull junior single-seater program, transitioned to endurance racing in 2023, while Kern is a long-standing Porsche factory driver with plenty of Zolder experience.

In addition, NGT is entering another 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 – in partnership with JDK. This car will be shared by Juna-Jane De Keersmaecker, Benjamin De Cock, Fred Bouvy, and Gilles Verleyen, with a potential fifth driver still to be confirmed.

More Porsche teams at Zolder

The two teams that have so far traded wins in the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux will face stiff opposition from four additional Porsche outfits at the 47th 24 Hours of Zolder. Further details on those line-ups will follow in a second press release.
