Russell Racing by NGT Racing takes the title in the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux 2022

  • Belgium Racing wins last appointment of the season at Circuit Zolder

  • Tip Top Rent wins battle in GTB both in the final and in the GTB final classification

Zolder, October 10, 2022. One point: that's the difference between the champion and the vice champion in the 2022 edition of the hard-fought Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux. Belgium Racing took the full loot during the final at Circuit Zolder, but came just short to keep Russell Racing by NGT Racing from a first crown. Jeffrey van Hooydonk, Christoff Corten and Hans Thiers came in second and secured the title in the Porsche long-distance make cup. After an intense season, with four different winners in six games, the decision was made at the finish. In GTB the victory went to Tip Top Rent and they are also immediately certain of the title in the class for the Porsche Cayman GT4 with the young drivers Arthur Peters and Gunter Van Den Bergh.

Endurance competitions are also very exciting, as proved by the final of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux 2022, again of course in the Belcar Endurance Championship. In front of packed stands, with more than 10,000 spectators present, the various Porsche teams provided the necessary spectacle and it took a while after the finish before the new champions were really certain of their title. It's called a photo finish and then it's best not to celebrate too early!

“It was indeed exciting”, said Hans Thiers, Christoff Corten and Jeffrey van Hooydonk after the finish in Zolder. “We have laid the foundation for our success with regularity and two victories this year, but the competition was fierce with the best Belgian Porsche teams at the start of the various races. Especially during the 24 Hours of Zolder, the starting grid was one to be seen, with even ex-Le Mans winners at the start of the race. The reliability of our Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – type 992 – was exemplary and we really have not known a single technical problem in more than 35 hours of motorsport competition. Add to that the strong approach of our team Russell Racing by NGT Racing and you get the ingredients for a great season in this attractive competition.”

The last victory was therefore for Michaël Cool and Dylan Derdaele, also their second of the season, after an earlier victory in the French Magny Cours. So the new champions came in second, ahead of the MM Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of Mick Meurrens, Steve Meurrens and Tom Meurrens. Tip Top Rent with Arthur Peters and Gunter Van Den Bergh as well as BE Motorsport with Stephan Beyens and Didier Beyens were good for the prizes in the GTB class. Tip Top Rent is also sure of the title in the class.

“The 2022 season of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux has once again confirmed the quality of Porsche's competition products, with exciting motorsport, but important for us, also hardly any technical problems, as the champions rightly pointed out, more than 35 intense motorsports ”, said Series Manager Rudi Penders after the final on Limburg soil. “Obviously this is an excellent basis to start working on the coming season.”
