Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux prepares for Round 3 of the 2024 season

  • Belgium Racing Team leads after back-to-back wins at Circuit Zolder

  • Unrelenting competition heads to Spa-Francorchamps

Zonhoven, July 4th, 2024 – Following a thrilling second meeting at Circuit Zolder, the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux is set for its third round, marking the midpoint of the 2024 season. The teams and drivers will compete at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the Belgian Ardennes. This 125-minute race, held in conjunction with the 25 Hour Fun Cup, kicks off on Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon, we will have a clearer picture of the contenders for the 24 Hours of Zolder, the main event of the season, set for the end of August.

Standings after Round 2

After two rounds, with wins from Q1 Trackracing and Belgium Racing Team, the anticipation is high for who will claim victory at Spa-Francorchamps. Both previous victories at Circuit Zolder secured top positions in both the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux and the overall classification of the Belcar Endurance Championship. Since last year's visit to Spa-Francorchamps, Porsche teams have dominated the Belgian endurance championship rounds.

This weekend's race is expected to be a fierce battle between the current championship leaders, Belgium Racing Team, featuring Dylan Derdaele and Jan Lauryssen in their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup - Type 992, and their closest rivals, Q1 Trackracing, with Filip Teunkens and Nicolas Vandierendonck. Tip Top Rent by NGT has also performed strongly in the GTB class, with Arthur Peters and Kenny Herremans securing consecutive victories in their Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, placing the team third in the championship. MM Racing, Speedlover, and YDM Racing, all driving Porsche 911 GT3s, are close behind, while Saber Management Racing will compete with a Porsche Cayman GT4.

Upcoming challenges and new entrants

Spa-Francorchamps is the last race before the season's highlight, the 24 Hours of Zolder. Several new Porsche participants are expected for this significant event. RedAnt Racing has already announced an additional Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992), with Dirk and Tom Van Rompuy, Ayhancan Güven, and David Pittard behind the wheel. Güven, a former Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux champion, recently won the 12 Hours of Bathurst in the Intercontinental GT Challenge with Porsche. Pittard is a renowned GT3 driver who finished fourth in the 24 Hours of Spa last weekend. They won't be the only new names at the 24 Hours of Zolder.
