Belgium Racing aims for the overall title
Tip Top by NGT seeks GTB redemption after the 24 Hours of Zolder
Zonhoven, September 19, 2024 - This weekend, the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux moves to France for the penultimate round of the season, taking place at the picturesque l’Anneau du Rhin circuit in Alsace, just south of Colmar. With the championship title on the line, this event could prove decisive.
Jan Lauryssen and Dylan Derdaele, representing Belgium Racing, have enjoyed a stellar season with two victories and a strong showing at the 24 Hours of Zolder. However, their rivals are ready to contest every point in this high-stakes race weekend.
In a notable change from tradition, the event at l’Anneau du Rhin will feature a three-hour race, broken into three separate one-hour heats. This adjustment, part of the Belcar Endurance Championship, aims to reduce costs for the teams. The results of all three heats will be combined to form a single classification at the end of Sunday. Only fully completed laps from heats 1 and 2, along with the final results of heat 3, will count toward the overall and class standings.
On the sporting front, the competition for victory is expected to be fierce. Three Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992s are the frontrunners: Belgium Racing’s entry with Lauryssen and Derdaele; Q1 Trackracing, driven by Nicolas Vandierendonck and Dirk Schouten, leader of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux; and YDM-Racing, piloted by the young duo Yondem and Geussens.
In the GTB class, Tip Top by NGT has the chance to claim the national title if they score well in France. Drivers Arthur Peters and Kenny Herremans know what’s at stake and are determined to seize the moment.
The action kicks off on Friday at 16:00 with a one-hour free practice session, followed by qualifying on Saturday morning at 9:10. The three heats will take place on Sunday, with race starts scheduled for 11:00, 14:15, and 16:40.
