- Third round of the Porsche Endurance Trophy on the legendary circuit in the Ardennes
- NGT makes its debut in the 2021 Porsche Endurance Trophy
Hockenheim was the venue for the second round of the Porsche Endurance Trophy 2021 and just two weeks later we find the drivers and teams of the high-level competition on another F1 circuit, namely Spa-Francorchamps. Another 180-minute endurance race is on the menu as part of the Spa Euro Race. After two victories by Belgium Racing and the duo Dylan Derdaele and Nicolas Saelens, the question arises whether that duo can score a real hat trick or will the assembled competition put a stop to that? The competition consists not only of Red Ant Racing and Q1-Trackracing by EMG, but also of NGT, a team that recently showed great things at the Red Bull Ring in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux.
If we make an analysis of the season so far, it cannot be otherwise than Dylan Derdaele and Nicolas Saelens will again play a leading role in the Porsche Endurance Trophy on the well-known asphalt in the Ardennes this weekend. Together they have already won twice in the endurance competition and separately they had three victories during the opening weekend of the Porsche Carrera Cup in the same Spa-Francorchamps: two for Dylan Derdaele overall and one for Nicolas Saelens in the Pro/Am category. Could hardly be better. However, strong competition and unpredictable weather conditions could make the race at Francorchamps a difficult task. The victory will certainly not be given to the leaders in the championship standings!
Marc Goossens at the start
To start with, Koen Wauters, also in the colors of Belgium Racing, is out for revenge after a somewhat more difficult start to the season, without a podium place so far. Koen has to miss his brother Kris, but can count on the services of none other than Marc Goossens. Red Ant Racing proved once again with a pole position for Ayrton Redant in Hockenheim that the speed is on target and the racing family from Lochristi will certainly be on the lookout for next Sunday. Q1-Trackracing by EMG, with Bas Schouten and Jan Lauryssen, the surprise of 2021, will certainly want a second time on the podium. And what can we expect from NGT, which will compete in the Porsche Endurance Trophy for the first time this season with Stijn Lowette and Stef Vancampenhoudt?
In short, there is enough material for spectacle and excitement, but it is also a matter of looking forward to the progression of Glenn Paenen and Jan Ooms, of course in the slightly older Porsche 991 GT3 Cup of Belgium Racing, but they can, especially in uncertain weather. lay the various Porsche 992 GT3 Cup. The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport of Red Ant Racing with Van Laere-Vandekerckhove-De Breucker is also present and they want to be best of the rest behind the various 911s.
On Friday, there will be an hour of training, from 2 pm to 3 pm, while qualifying takes place right at noon on Saturday. The race will take place on Sunday, with start at 12:15 pm and finish at 3:15 pm.
