The battle for the places of honor is still open
Zonhoven, October 4, 2022. The final of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux 2022 will take place this weekend at Circuit Zolder and the battle for the title in the Porsche Endurance Championship is still very much open. After five meetings in the Belgian endurance championship, including the 24 Hours of Zolder, Russell Racing by NGT Racing leads the defending champion Belgium Racing and they will decide among themselves who will take the laurels in 2022. The battle for bronze is still open and Belgium Racing also plays a major role there. Tip Top Rent by NGT is already certain of the title in the GTB class, of course reserved for the Porsche Cayman GT4. We will know the last winners of the season and the champions on Sunday at 5.05 pm!
The Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux 2022 season has been particularly intense and the various top teams have shared the successes among themselves. Belgium Racing won with two different teams in Zolder and Magny Cours, Q1 Trackracing was victorious in the 24 Hours of Zolder and Russell Racing by NGT Racing leads the championship standings with 209 points thanks to two victories (Spa and Nürburgring) . Hans Thiers, Christoff Corten and Jeffrey van Hooydonk thus count nineteen points more than Belgium Racing with Dylan Derdaele and Michael Cool behind the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 -.
Christoff Corten and his team are aiming for a first title and attach great importance to a possible award: “After two victories and a podium place in five games, we are indeed leading the championship, with a good lead over our closest rivals. We have not given up once this year and want to continue that line, which is the best proof of the quality of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup - Type 992 -. If we handle our race well, a lot is possible and we will end this season very nicely. I attach great importance to the competition under the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup, because that is the fairest form of competition, regardless of any BoP, good or bad. In view of this weekend, I would also like to congratulate our young teammates in the Tip Top Rent Porsche Cayman, Arthur Peters and Benjamin De Cock, on their title in the GTB class.”
Battle for the places of honor
Behind the top 2, Koen and Kris Wauters, also in the colors of Belgium Racing, still have a chance of winning silver and of course bronze in the endurance competition with the various Porsche models. The bronze is also possible for Speedlover with Rik Renmans and Olivier Dons, while Toon Hungenaert and Dries Geladé will defend the colors of RUSH Competition by Speedlover this weekend, in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 991 -. In GTB the battle is between the Tip Top Rent Porsche Cayman GT4 of Arthur Peters and Benjamin De Cock on the one hand and the BE Motorsport Porsche Cayman GT4 of the brothers Stephan and Didier Beyens.
The battle will start on Saturday October 8, at a little after eleven with a free practice session, while we will know the last starting grid of the season around four o'clock. Attention, points are also linked to pole position and so it will also be exciting on Saturday! On Sunday, the light of the final will turn green at 3 p.m. and 125 minutes later, the curtain will fall on the 2022 season.
