Spa-Francorchamps, July 7th, 2024. Belgium Racing Team clinched their second consecutive victory in the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux, with drivers Jan Lauryssen and Dylan Derdaele. This win also marks their second triumph in as many weeks in the national Belgian endurance championship, Belcar. As a result, the North Limburg team will head to the 24 Hours of Zolder as leaders in both championships. Notably, two teams, YDM-Racing and MM Racing, celebrated their first-ever podium finishes at the highest endurance level in Belgium.
“We drove a perfect race, resulting in a second victory in as many weeks,” said Lauryssen and Derdaele at the foot of the old podium on the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit. “This is another double victory, securing first place in the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux and the overall win in the Belcar Endurance Championship. It’s our third win in the past five races of 2023 and 2024 for Belgium Racing Team. While we lead in both championships, the outcome of this season’s battle remains uncertain, especially with the challenging 24 Hours of Zolder ahead. We’ll see you at Circuit Zolder for a high-level showdown!”
The battle for the remaining podium places was intense, with YDM-Racing, MM Racing, Q1 Trackracing, and Speedlover all competing fiercely with their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 cars. Ultimately, Evren Yondem and Jarne Geussens of YDM-Racing secured second place, while brothers Mick, Steve, and Tom Meurrens of MM Racing finished third.
Jarne Geussens expressed his joy: “This is a milestone for our team, which has only been together for a few months. It’s fantastic, especially considering all competitors used identical equipment, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992, making this result even more remarkable.”
Tom Meurrens also shared his excitement: “After a tough race at Circuit Zolder, everything clicked here, and we secured the podium. It’s amazing for us, as a family team relatively new to this level. We’re going to savor this moment.”
Teunkens-Raducanu finished fourth in the Q1 Trackracing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, followed by the SpeedLover Porsche driven by the Renmans-Meulders duo.
