Jan Lauryssen and Dylan Derdaele take the championship lead in the #99 Belgium Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992)
Podium spots also for D’Ieteren Luxury Performance by NGT and Q1 Trackracing in Round 3 of the season
The third round of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux, once again held as part of the Belcar Endurance Championship at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit, delivered a thrilling battle all the way to the finish line. After 125 minutes of intense racing, Jan Lauryssen and Dylan Derdaele (Belgium Racing) came out on top in their Porsche 992 GT3 Cup, edging out the D’Ieteren Luxury Performance by NGT car of Glenn van Parijs and Cédric Wauters by just 0.484 seconds. Q1 Trackracing, with drivers Dirk Schouten and Nicolas Saelens, claimed the final podium position in third.
Guest driver and reigning Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux champion Dirk Schouten had secured pole position for Q1 Trackracing on Friday, narrowly ahead of Glenn van Parijs.
Right from the start, the Porsche grid made its presence felt in the Belgian Ardennes. Glenn van Parijs took an early lead for D’Ieteren Luxury Performance by NGT in the third race of the season, but after 125 minutes of fierce racing, it was the Belgium Racing duo of Derdaele and Lauryssen who crossed the line first.
“Holding off Cédric Wauters in the final laps was a huge challenge,” Jan Lauryssen said after the race. “He never let up, and I was relieved to finally see the checkered flag. It was a tough battle, and the excellent work from our Belgium Racing crew made all the difference.”
The fight for third was equally close. Dirk Schouten and teammate Nicolas Saelens finished just ten seconds behind the leaders. The second Belgium Racing car (#98), driven by Michael Cool and Brent Verheyen, came in fourth.
The action-packed Porsche field saw strong performances across the board. The Meurrens brothers (MM Racing), Christoff Corten and Jamie Morrow (Russell Racing by Art Racing / Pitstream), and the international duo Rey King and Konstantinos Zannos (WDP by NGT) finished fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively.
In the GTS class, Benjamin De Cock and Juna-Jane De Keersmaecker delivered a dominant performance in their JDK by NGT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4, continuing their impressive run of form.
The next event for the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux teams and drivers is the prestigious 24 Hours of Zolder, scheduled for the final weekend of August — specifically, Thursday the 28th and the weekend of August 30–31.
